Retired wrestler Kurt Angle says he's "in the dog house" after he utilized his own meme to make a "hawk tuah" joke.

In a tweet shared on Monday, July 8, Angle made use of the meme of him staring at the camera with his eyes wide open to make an NSFW joke using Hailey "Hawk Tuah" Welch's unavoidable meme. "The face I make when I ask my wife for some Hawk Tuah time," he wrote alongside a screenshot of the meme of his face. "#itstrue."

Not long after he shared the tweet, the 55-year-old deleted it and followed it up with an explanation of why he didn't want to keep it up. "Your Olympic hero is in the dog house right now," he wrote, assumedly referring to his wife Giovanna Yannoti not approving of the joke. "At least I thought it was funny."

Just as 2023 was coming to an end, Kurt Angle became a late contender for meme of the year thanks to a video showing him staring intensely at the camera. Meanwhile, Hailey Welch's viral moment in an on-the-streets is steadily becoming the most talked-about meme of 2024.

In fact, the 21-year-old is looking to capitalize on her newfound fame by registering "hawk tauh" trademarks for merch and entertainment purposes. She's apparently getting career advice from Shaquille O'Neal, too.
